Creamy ANYTHING is my absolute favorite texture in foods! And for a creamy-good smoothie, you can’t go wrong with the creamy texture of a ripe avacado. Not only do avacados make your smoothie creamy, they add a level of healthy fat, and are sodium and cholesterol-free. And since their taste is characteristically bland, they don’t interfere with the pineapple and orange flavor in this smoothie.
Spinach – a generous handful
Pineapple chunks – about 1/2 cup or more if you prefer
Oranges – (3) peeled
Cucumbers: 1/2 of one, peeled
Avacado – 1/2 of one
Process in your blender, Ninja, MagicBullet, Nutribullet or other processing gadget. This makes two 8-ounce servings.
- Choosing a ripe avacado: Look for dark-skinned avacados that give a little when you squeeze. If you buy green avacados, they will ripen well in the refrigerator. I usually put mine in one of the vegetable drawers at the bottom.
- Chopping your pineapple and freezing the chunks before-hand will eliminate the need for ice.
- I don’t add extra water because the cucumber, pineapple, and oranges offer enough liquid of their own.
