Your body’s talking – take 24 hours and listen

A Peaceful Morning After

Do you have a “me” day?
A day that you’ve planned for you: doing whatever you like, or nothing at all.
A day to:
-re-think your job in a warm/hot bubble bath
-plan for your future while grooving to jazz/gospel/R and B
-Sleeeeeeepp
-soak your feet sipping on a glass of wine/beer/whatever
-go to the gym, the hair salon or nail salon
Well, you get the idea, right? A day for YOU.
Don’t have one? Why not? Lost in a schedule of tasks that you created?
-kids have _______ (fill in blank) practice
-gotta make dinner
-working
-gotta run errands
-gotta take ______(fill in blank) to _____ (fill in blank)
and on, and on, and on …….
So, you’re saying that you can’t find ONE DAY a week that those tasks could find a way to take care of themselves?
Do you really think that your world can’t survive without you for one day? If that’s really the case, then what does that mean?
It means that you have made it your responsibility to live for each member of your family. That you either don’t believe they can handle responsibilities or that you’ve been doing it for so long that you haven’t given them the chance.
What does this mean for your health?
Believe it or not, no matter how much responsibility we used to handle on low sleep or no sleep; low nutrition and no focused exercise, our bodies get tired. And if it’s not cared for properly, it stops.
We need a daily health cocktail of good nutrition, focused exercise, and rest – physical AND emotional. Taking one day a week to re-group can eventually help you strive for that.
Look at your life week-to-week: that ONE day of no physical or emotional stress means a full 24 hours of peace. Think how wonderful it would feel to have a whole, uninterrupted 24 hours for you and you alone.
Now think of all of your blood pressure meds, Tylenol, Advil, cigarettes, alcohol that you need to make it through a week. If you’re having a hard time dealing with your life; have you listened to your body lately?
